A web search for "pop-up blocker" reveals the fact that there are numerous products available to block pop-ups. One commonly-used product is Panicware's Pop-Up Stopper. Panicware offers a FREE version of the Stopper which works relatively well. Another popular product is AdShield (check AdSheild's site for cost).
In addition to a wide array of available programs, many browsers (and Norton Firewall) have built-in pop-up blockers or configuration settings that can be used to block pop-ups. Google has a free browser search and pop-up blocker toolbar that is easily installed. Additional resources include the following links: Free Pop-up Blockers, Prevent Pop-up Ad Windows When Browsing with Internet Explorer, and Netscape 7.1 Popup controls.
Note: While Pop-up blockers may significantly reduce pop-ups, they will generally not eliminate all pop-ups because methods of creating pop-ups are too numerous and new ones are continually being developed to work around blockers. Additionally, it is important to note that some pop-up windows that you WANT to come up may be blocked, so it is best to use a program or configuration that allows YOU to decide if a pop-up window can and should be displayed.
Tip: Try support links and a web search Check out some of the sites on the Support Links page for finding additional information or use the search field at the bottom of the Support Links page to search the web.
