Outlook Express 4 - News

SMTP Auth and SSL

Expedient email may also be configured for SMTP Authentication and SSL encryption for outgoing email. Please note that SMTP Auth and SSL are optional and are not required to use Expedient email.

For further information and setup instructions, see the links below. NOTE: Please configure SMTP Auth or SSL after first configuring your email program for your Expedient email.

  • SMTP Authentication
  • SSL Encryption (outgoing)
  • SSL Encryption (incoming)
  • Open Outlook Express, click the Tools menu and choose Accounts. Click the Add button and choose News.

    Enter your name in the Display name field. Click Next.

    Enter your email address. Click Next.

    Enter your Expedient news server in the NNTP News server box. Click Here for the list of Expedient News Servers. Click Next.

    Note: If you are using our National Access news server, the next screen will prompt you for your username (in the form of username@expedient.net) and password. Click Next.

    Next it will ask for a Friendly Name for this account. It should already show the news server name. Click Next.

    Choose your Connection Type:

    • DSL and Cable users should choose Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) and click Next.
    • Dialup users should choose Connect using my phone lineand click Next. On the following screen, Select your Modem from the list and click Next. Choose your Expedient dialup connection and click Next

    Click Finish. Close the Internet Accounts window to return to Outlook Express.
