Return to main Mail & News page

To set up your Outlook Express Client to access an Exchange 2000 server using WebDAV:

  1. Open Outlook Express. To do so, click Start, point to Programs, and then click Outlook Express.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

  3. From the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Mail tab.

  4. Click Add, and click Mail from the secondary menu that appears. The Internet Connection wizard starts.

  5. Type the name you want to use for your display name in the Display Name box, and click Next to continue.

  6. Click the I already have an email address that I'd like to use option. Provide your complete e-mail address in the E-mail Address box, for example, someone@microsoft.com, and click Next to continue.

  7. You are asked to provide your e-mail server names. From the My incoming server is a ____ server list, select HTTP.

  8. Specify the URL to your Exchange Server computer in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, for example, http://exchange_server_name/exchange/user_mailbox.

  9. A new option appears, My HTTP mail services provider is ____. Select Other from the list because you are not setting up access to a HotMail server, and click Next to continue.

  10. You are then asked to provide your Internet mail logon information. Provide a valid Exchange Server account name and password in the Account Name and Password boxes, and click Next to continue.

  11. Click Finish to complete the creation of your new mail account. Your new mail account should appear under the Mail tab on the Internet Accounts dialog box. Click Close.

  12. You are asked if you would like to download folders from the mail server you added. Click Yes if you want to complete this action now.
