myStargate: Dial Location
Property Editors can be used by the subscriber to alter settings within myStargate.
Note: The subscriber is only provided easy access to the dial location editor (via the Dashboard). The other editors are contained within the shell folder interface and harder to find for the end user. This is designed to deter end-users from easily altering settings that may generate a support call.
Dial Location Editor
Dialing Locations are used by myStargate to control location-specific dialing properties for modem connections. myStargate contains only one group of locations shared by any accounts you may have with myStargate. To view, edit or make a new location, on the Dashboard, go to Tools and select Preferences.
The subscriber may use the elements in the dial location editor interface to create or modify settings of a dial location. The dial location contains information about the location from which the user is dialing.
Create New Dial Location
A user may create a new dial location in two ways: from the Dashboard Preferences or from the shell folder interface.
To create a new Dial Location from the Dashboard:
- Select the "Preferences…" menu item in the "Tools" menu.
- Click the "New Location" button.
- At this point the Dial Location editor will open.
- The first panel in the dial location editor will request a new, unique name for the dial location.
- The second panel displays the standard dial location editor panel.
To create a new Dial Location from the shell interface:
- Navigate to the "My Computer\Dial Locations" folder.
- Double-click the "Make New Dial Location" icon.
- At this point the Dial Location editor will open.
- The first panel in the dial location editor will request a new, unique name for the dial location.
- The second panel displays the standard dial location editor panel.
Modify Dial Location
A user may modify an existing dial location in two ways: from the dashboard preferences or from the shell folder interface.
To modify an existing dial location from the dashboard:
- Select the "Preferences…" menu item in the "Tools" menu.
- Click the "Edit Location" button.
- At this point the Dial Location editor will open.
- The first panel displays the standard dial location editor panel.
To modify an existing dial location from the shell interface:
- Navigate to the "My Computer\Dial Locations" folder.
- Select the desired dial location and right-click to bring up the contextual menu and select "Properties".
- At this point the Dial Location editor will open.
- The first panel displays the standard dial location editor panel.
