myStargate: Error Messages

General Errors

Open Support Agent before closing Dashboard

If you open the Support Agent before closing the Dashboard and attempts to make changes, the following error occurs:

Solution: Close Dashboard prior to using the Support Agent.

Error after selecting modem: "Script variable "MODEM" not large enough for result. 66 greater than 64".

Determine the modem by going to the Modem Control Panel and query modem and compare modem listed with ATI13. If you are using a modem with a long name, such as "Conexant SoftK56Data,Fax, RemoteTam PCI Modem (chipset default)", edit the length of the ATI13 by editing the modem.ini file. Note: The modem.ini file may be the name of the modem followed by .ini.

Email login or password error

If you are using the incorrect login or password information for the account setup in myStargate, s/he will see the following error:

Solution: Close the Dashboard, open Support Agent, go to Diagostics and open Edit Active Configuration. Go to the Email tab and make appropriate changes to the login and/or password fields.

Dialup login or password error

If you have entered the incorrect username or password for the myStargate dialup connection, you will see the following error:

Solution: Close the Dashboard, open Support Agent, go to Diagostics and open Edit Active Configuration. Go to the Account tab and make appropriate changes to the login and/or password fields.

Modem or TCP/IP Issue

If you are receiving the following error, troubleshoot by going to MyComputer -> Internet Connections, right-click the connection and select Properties. Check the settings.

Diagnostic and Application Errors

Diagnostics are consistently reporting application configuration errors

Sometimes you will receive an Application Configuration diagnostic error whenever a Dashboard is launched, indicating that settings are not being repaired. Some situations that can trigger this behavior are:

  • The application being fixed is open. Close any open applications before fixing anything with myStargate diagnostics.
  • Another application is resetting a setting. A typical example is software and web pages that alter the home page in the browser.
  • You are changing the setting in the application without changing the setting in the myStargate profile editor. Modify the profile setting in myStargate.

You are receiving repeated TCP/IP or Dial-up Networking installation errors from myStargate diagnostics.

At times the registry can become damaged to the point myStargate cannot fix it. The best method for fixing this problem is to remove TCP/IP and Dial-up Networking and reinstall. If using this procedure, after a reboot, any myStargate diagnostic errors should be ignored. See Dialup section for information on uninstalling Dial-up Networking. NOTE: You will need your Windows CD for this procedure. Upon reboot, when myStargate (confsvr.exe) starts, myStargate should detect missing TCP/IP and/or Dial-up Networking and initiate network software installation diagnostics are fix any previous errors.

Diagnostics Tips and Notes
