myStargate: Preferences
How to Edit Dashboard Preferences
From the "Tools" menu, you can edit Dashboard Preferences by selecting Preferences.
The Quick Menu at the upper right of the Prefences window from left to right, includes: Dialing Preferences | Dashboard Preferences | Application and WWW Preferences
In the Dashboard preferences editor, you can access the following tabbed panels:
Virtual Application - Preferences. To start the vApp at the first panel, Connecting, click here.
Connecting Preferences Panel
Select POP. Set to dial 10 digits (area code) or 11 digits (1 + area code). Edit location or make a new location.
myStargate uses Windows "Area Code and Dialing Properties" to configure 10 digit dialing. It does NOT put all 10 digits into the phone number field so when troubleshooting, do not make any changes the way phone number properties are handled. Use the method used by myStargate.
It is NOT recommended that you select a second number unless you have a second number that is local. Please contact the phone company to ensure that any number you select is toll-free. Stargate cannot be responsible for long distance charges. Both primary and secondary numbers have associated Dial One/Dial Area Code checkboxes.
Dashboard Preferences Panel
You can modify preferences and behavior of the Dashboard from this panel. The dashboard toolbar allows for a maximum of 5 icons. Additionally, the width of the dashboard toolbar icons will all be equal to the WIDEST icon - that is, the one with the longest name. Therefore, problems with the toolbar may arise if too many shortcuts or shortcuts with long names are added to the toolbar.
WWW Preferences Panel
The myStargate default homepage is http://my.stargate.net or http://www.mystargate.net. You can use a different homepage or a blank page as the default if desired, although we recommend myStargate as the homepage so you can quickly manage your account and access our online support.
Applications Preferences Panel
The Applications Panel allows you to configure which Internet applications to use for Web browsing, e-mail, and news. These are the applications launched from the "Internet Applications" section of the Control Bar. In addition, these applications will determine which applications are configured/diagnosed by the myStargate profile. On installation, the default is set to be Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. News is NOT configured or installed by default.
If you are using a program other than Netscape or Internet Explorer/Outlook Express, be sure that the application is supported by myStargate (see System Requirements and Supported software on the main myStargate software page). If it is, the application must be (re)-installed AFTER myStargate installation in order to be available as an application option in myStargate. The programs selected in the "Programs" tab of Internet Options are not monitored/changed by myStargate and may conflict with settings in myStargate. It does not monitor content advisor or security settings.
You may disable configuration/diagnostics for a particular application type by selecting the "None" item in the corresponding list.
