myStargate: Profiles
You can use the profile editor to make changes to a given profile. When the profile is opened (the dashboard launched) those changes will be applied to the system.
Profile Editor Panels
Two Methods of Editing the Profile Panel
To open the Profile Panel, go to My Computer > Internet Connections, right-click the connection you want to modify/check and select Properties. Alternatively, you can use the Support Agent. In Support Agent, go to the Diagnostics Tab and select "Edit Active Configuration". Remember that the Dashboard must be closed to make any changes; if the Dashobard is open, you will receive an error message.

- Account Panel The Account Panel allows account information to be changed.
Change Account ID and Password
It may be necessary to change your Account ID and Password within a myStargate profile.
- Make sure the myStargate Dashboard is closed.
- Double-click My Computer
- Double-click Internet Connections folder
- Right-click on the target profile name.
- Select "Properties". The profile properties editor will appear.
- Select the "Account" tab if is not already selected.
- Change the Account ID, Password, and Verify Password fields. The Password and Verify Password fields must match before You can save.
- Click Save.
- The user can now launch the Dashboard and the new information will be reconfigured in DUN.
- TCP/IP Panel The TCP/IP Panel stores settings that modify the TCP/IP properties in a DUN connectoid.
- DNS Panel The DNS Panel stores settings that modify the DNS properties in a DUN connectoid.
- Proxies Panel The Proxies Panel stores proxy settings that modify proxy configuration for the users applications.
- Dialup Networking Panel The Dialup Networking Panel stores settings that modify PPP and logon properties in DUN.
- Redial Panel The Redial Panel stores settings that modify the dialing properties in a DUN connectoid.
- Modem Panel The Modem Panel defines the modem that is associated with the profile.
- Applications Panel The Applications Panel defines which applications the user will associate with the myStargate profile for configuration and launching.
- E-Mail Panel The E-Mail Panel stores settings that modify the e-mail properties in the configured e-mail application.
Change My E-mail ID and Password
- Make sure the myStargate Dashboard is closed.
- Make sure mail applications are closed.
- Double-click Internet Connections folder.
- Right-click on the target profile name.
- Select "Properties". The profile properties editor will appear.
- Select the "E-Mail" tab.
- Change the E-Mail ID, Password, and Verify Password fields. The Password and Verify Password fields must match before You can save.
- Click save.
- The user can now launch the Dashboard and the new information will be reconfigured in the managed E-mail application.
- News Panel News is NOT setup during the account setup process. The News Panel stores settings that modify the nntp properties in the configured application.
News Configuration - News should be national-news.stargate.net; authentication, using your Stargate e-mail address as your username and the password as the password.
- WWW Panel - The WWW Panel stores settings that modify the WWW properties in the configured browser.
Change Homepage
It may be desirable for you to change the home page within a myStargate profile. This is particularly useful if your have changed your home page from within the browser but not in the myStargate browser (in which you will get a diagnostic error whenever the dashboard is started).
- Make sure the myStargate Dashboard is closed.
- Double-click My Computer
- Double-click Internet Connections folder
- Right-click on the target profile name.
- Select "Properties". The profile properties editor will appear.
- Select the "WWW" tab if is not already selected.
- Change the Home Page field.
- Click save.
Resolving Property Editor Issues
"Read Only" error when opening a profile editor
When editing a profile, you may see an error that says: "The connection Stargate cannot be edited here because it is either read-only or it's open in another application."
This error message is generated if you try to edit the active configuration while the dashboard is open. To avoid getting this error message close the Dashboard before trying to edit the active configuration.
