Using CD 1. Place CD into CD-ROM drive. 2. The MyStargate installer should start automatically. If not, navigate to your CD-ROM drive and double-click setup.exe. B. Using Download (http://help.stargate.net/) 1. Double-click the myStargate icon to begin installation. The installer will prompt you to choose your default web browser. You may select Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape 4.79. If you choose Netscape 4.79, a minimal installation of Internet Explorer 5.5 will run in the background. If you already have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher installed, the program will not install Internet Explorer. After installation, reboot the computer. Account setup should begin after the computer restarts. If automatic launch fails, Account Setup can be started manually by following these steps: 1. Navigate to My Computer\Internet Connections. 2. Double-click "Make New Connection". 3. Select Create New Stargate Configuration" and click OK. =================================================================================== UNINSTALLING MYSTARGATE =================================================================================== There are two methods of uninstalling Gearbox. Because MyStargate creates extra content after installation, some harmless files may be left after a Quick uninstall. The Quick Uninstall removes all files created when MyStargate was installed. The Full Uninstall removes all files created when MyStargate was installed, and it also removes all files created by the MyStargate program after installation. To perform a Quick Uninstall, choose one of the two following methods: 1. Click the Start button. 2. Go to Programs > Stargate Connection Kit. 3. Click the uninstall icon. 4. After the uninstall has finished, you must restart your computer. - OR - 1. Open the Control Panel. 2. Double click Add/Remove Programs 3. Highlight the Stargate Connection Kit, and click the add/remove button. 4. After the uninstall has finished, you must restart your computer. The Full uninstall should remove all MyStargate content from your computer. If you are uncomfortable navigating with the windows explorer, removing or editing the registry, we recommend using the Quick uninstall method. To perform a Full uninstall: 1. Open Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel 2. Select Stargate Connection Kit from the list and click the add/remove button. Do not restart if prompted. 3. Delete any MyStargate shortcuts created on the desktop. 4. Look in the Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder and delete the "MyStargate First Setup" shortcut if it exists. 5. Restart your computer now. 6. After restarting, navigate to the MyStargate folder (by default it should be "C:\Program Files\Stargate Connection Kit)" and delete the whole folder. This will remove any data and content files created by the MyStargate client. 7. Restart your computer again. 8. (OPTIONAL) To fully clean your system you can remove the following registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Rockstar Software." This is not a necessary step. (WARNING!!! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require that you reinstall your operating system. Stargate cannot support problems that result from the incorrect use of Registry Editor. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. It is highly recommended that you back up the registry before editing.)
