WinPoET Error 645: Internal Authentication Error
This error can occur if no Dial-Up adapters have been installed, or if the DSL connection has become corrupt.
To verify that the Dial-Up adapter is installed in the Network Control Panel, click here for instructions.
If you have the Dial-Up Adapter installed in the Network Control Panel, it is possible that the DSL connection in Dial-Up Networking has become corrupt. To fix this:
- Double click the My Computer icon, then double click Dial-Up Networking. (Windows ME users will find Dial-Up Networking in the Control Panel)
- Right click the DSL Connection icon and select Delete. The connection should be named WinPoET Connection. Select Yes when prompted.
- Restart your computer.
- Reopen the WinPoET client (if it does not automatically start up for you).
- Re-enter your Expedient username (in the form of username@dsl.stargate.net) and password and press Connect.
WinPoET should now be able to connect normally.
If you are still receiving errors you may need to uninstall and reinstall WinPoET. To uninstall WinPoET:
- Open your Control Panel and double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click WinPoET in the list of installed programs and click the Add/Remove button.
- If prompted, confirm the uninstall.
After WinPoET has been uninstalled, click here for instructions to reinstall.
