Microsoft Outlook 2000 - Internet Mail Only

SMTP Auth and SSL

Expedient email may also be configured for SMTP Authentication and SSL encryption for outgoing email. Please note that SMTP Auth and SSL are optional and are not required to use Expedient email.

For further information and setup instructions, see the links below. NOTE: Please configure SMTP Auth or SSL after first configuring your email program for your Expedient email.

  • This page has instructions for Microsoft Outlook 2000 installed as "Internet Mail Only". If your installation of Microsoft Outlook 2000 is "Corporate or Workgroup", click here for instructions. To find out what installation configuration you have:

    • Click the Help menu.
    • Click About Microsoft Outlook.
    • The second line should be either "Internet Mail Only" or "Corporate or Workgroup".
    • Click OK to return to Microsoft Outlook.

    Open Microsoft Outlook. Click the Tools menu and choose Accounts.

    Click the Add button and choose Mail.

    Enter your name in the Display name field. This is how it will appear when you send email. Click Next.

    Enter your email address and click Next.

    Select POP3 in the first box. Enter mail.expedient.net into the Incoming and Outgoing mail server fields. Click Next.

    Enter your email username or Expedient email address in the format of username@expedient.net and password into the Account name and Password fields in lowercase letters. Click Next.

    Choose your connection type:

    • If you have a DSL or Cable connection choose Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) and click Next.
    • If you have a Dialup connection choose Connect using my phone line and click Next. Choose your Expedient connection and click Next.

    Click Finish. Close the Internet Accounts window to return to Microsoft Outlook.
